This website sets four cookies. Two of them remember how you like the site to look. Two of them are Google Analytics, which tells us in aggregate which pages people read.
There are no advertising cookies here, and nothing on this website follows you to another one.
What we deliberately do not use
- No advertising, remarketing or retargeting cookies.
- No social media tracking pixels, including no Meta pixel, no X pixel and no LinkedIn insight tag.
- No cross site tracking, and no sharing of your browsing with any advertising network.
- No device fingerprinting, and no attempt to identify you by any means other than the cookies listed above.
- No cookies that hold your name, your email address or any identity document.
Why we are allowed to set them
The theme and locale cookies are strictly functional. The site needs them to honor a preference you have expressed, they hold no personal information, and the site would behave worse without them.
The Google Analytics cookies are set when you arrive. We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving our own website, as described in our Privacy Policy and as permitted under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). The data we look at is aggregate, we do not use it to identify you, and we do not combine it with your email address. You can switch it off at any time using the methods below.
How to switch them off
- In your browser
- Every current browser lets you block or delete cookies, either for all sites or for this one. Look under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking cookies on this site costs you nothing except that the site will stop remembering your appearance preference.
- For Google Analytics specifically
- Google publishes an opt out browser add on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, which stops Google Analytics on every website you visit, not only this one.
- In private or incognito mode
- Cookies set during the session are discarded when you close the window.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There is no agreed standard for how a website should respond to it, and we do not currently respond to it. We would rather tell you that plainly than imply a protection we do not provide. The controls in the previous section do work.
Changes to this policy
If we add or remove a cookie we will update the table on this page and change the date at the top. Questions about anything here can go to privacy@hyro.to.
